Help

Hi all, tried to start my pinto with the bike carbs, and it kept kicking back. so then took them carbs of and fitted the old carbs, and it will not start up. so how can you time the engine up?

As well does any one know what the marking on the head should be for a 1.6 pinto?

As well what coulour should the rocker box been?

Hi, it is a 1.6 pinto, standard dizzy with a homemade bike carb manifold which sits a set of 1999 cbr600fx carbs, and an 1999 cbr600fx self regualting fule pump.

pinto's are notorious for kicking back if the spark timing (i.e dizzy) is too far advanced.

Have you taken the distributor out at all?? I had a Pinto kicking back and dying within a second or two when it fired and found out i had the timing 180degrees out (on MegaJolt but same can be done with the dizzy obviously)

I alligend all the tdc up, and moved the dizzy, changed the leads to have the correct firing order. trun the key started a lot better, a few little tweaks with the dizzy and i am running on teh old carbs at the moment, but it is running better and starts up with a lot less effot. so 2mor will will ahve a go on bike carbs.
