Gear linkage

MK Indy - Fireblade
Tried to fit my gear linkage yesterday. If I line up the bottom rod (gear box to bulk head) the top rod (gear lever to bulk head) rubs against the prop shaft centre support, which is fitted at it's lowest setting.
If I move the bulk head levers up to obtain a sufficient clearance the bottom rod to the gear box is strained at an unacceptable angle. Any ideas?
Barry

PS At what angle does the lever normally sit from he gearbox ?, mine is at right angles to the ground, does that sound right.?

Would a couple of spacers / thick washers give you enough clearance?
