Pinto Bike Carbs and Dizzy does it work?

Has anyone run a pinto with bike carbs using a vacuum advance distributor.
And if so how well did it work?
Thanks Dave.

It'll work Dave, but what it wont let you do is optimise the ignition timing in order to take advantage of the extra fueling you are able to deliver, in order to gain the extra power that the conversion should offer.

Then again, vaccum advance is always a compromise set-up and so i'd certainly look towards doing the MegaJolt conversion also when you have the funds. As per my previous U2U, the conversion i did cost a total of around £130 inc wire to make up the loom from VWP and 5 LED's from Maplins to do the shift lights, EDIS stuff, MJ kit (from Paulf) and trigger wheel.

Put a megajolt system on it - Far better and not expensive.

Google Brent Picasa megajolt

PS Import it for the states yourself as the uk suppliers bump up the price big time

Scot's do it better in Kilts.

You can run a std pinto without vac advamce connected. It might be down on low load economy but it will run fine.

You can run twin webers with std dizzy and vac unconnected.

Twin webers are just quad carbs. Same as quad bike carbs. The engine doesnt know what is supplying the fuel.

Several people run modified dizzy's with bike carbs - eg H&H. I know Flakmonkey (Dave) has done this.

Yes you can just advance the timing using a timing gun to 32-36 deg if the engine won't start back it off a bit this is at 3000rpm

i did this for a bit then got a modded dizzy from H&H ignition solutions

I run with injection and throttlebodys and the ignition by megajolt using the vacuum from all 4 inlets joined by a small bore hose and a small resevoir, it is not ideal but does work better than 2d with no load.
I have a Megajolt available if you wanted one for a non inflated price and dont want to import it.
Paul.
