got my engine
Right chaps i got my engine today, its a 1.4 K series 16v single point injection. Ebay bargain at £5.50
I have never worked on an injected petrol engine so my question is
What do i need to make it run just on the bench.
It has got inlet manifold and single point injection throttle body, dizzy and the gearbox attached, and thats about as far as i can see.
From what i can see it has no starter or alternator.
Im presuming im going to need some sort of wiring harness and an ecu type thing and an ignition barrel and key?
Is my best start point trying to find out via the engine number what car it was from ( i was told metro Gti but i beleive thay had a few different
types of engine/ecu).
Any pointers would be good as im full of enthusiasm and want to make a bit of headway into it so i can establish if it needs any work prior to being
stored until im ready for it.
Thanks

Your def going to need the ECU to get it up and running, and the harness(wouldnt like to make up a harness for the engine) theres lots of wires from
all the different sensors.
Dont think ull need a barrel and key, just essentially hot wire it

Depends on the ECU what you need. Some need a matched ECU and key fob, some don't.
is there any way of finding out which ones do and dont?
I dont want to get down the scrappy to dig out a loom and ecu to find i need a matched key fob.
and does anyone know anything about changin from simgle point injection to multipoint injection?
Easy? not so? worth the trouble?

i'd seriously do some searches on here.
Will cost you a small fortune to get this engine in and working. Stevec might be able to help. also someone else has a 1.4k (blue car)
They are a bugger to fit imo.
Bellhousing £200
Axial starter £200
various other bits probably another £200
I'd go bec if i was doing another.
