Cooling system
Hello All,
My first post so if this has been asked before please bare with me. I have a standard 1300 x flow in my almost completed car, standard Escort radiator
and a header tank fitted to the bulkhead. I also have a Burton thermostat unit with the facility to top up the coolant (XR2 style I think) Question
is, do I fit a pressure cap to all three, ie; radiator, header tank and thermostat unit?
Thanks in anticipation. Working hard to complete and SVA before the new test comes in.

Just a pressure cap on the header tank, blanking cap (Austin Morris 1300 if you can get one) on the others . Welcome to the forum

Thanks for that quick reply. Should I have the header tank feed to the thermostat housing or the radiator? At the moment it goes to the radiator and I
have a pressure cap on the header tank and thermost housing with a blanking cap on the radiator. The problem is that when the engine starts to heat up
it leaks at the radiator cap. (Of course, the cap could be knackered though it doesnt look bad)

I got mine radiator filler neck removed and blanked off , the large hose from the header tank is connected to the heater hose via a tee piece ( more
a y piece , came from a Granada IIRC) I have an 8mm bleed off hose connected to the top of the rad and also to the top of the t/stat housing (Fiesta)
which is connected to the top of the header tank ( Rover?) A couple of 3mm holes in the thermostat if you haven't got a giggle pin to allow air
to bleed out helps . Have had no issues with overheating with this set up . If you haven't got a heater then tee into the pipe from the inlet
manifold to the water pump.
