IT'S ALIVE

After much messing about with the edis and slight lack of fuel problem (supply and return work much better the correct way around) the MS powered Zetec fired up on the button

HERE is a link to a very dull video.

Dead chuffed now, just got to get the Easytherm sorted as the engine thinks it's coolant temp is -35 on start up

Well done !
And good luck with easytherm - I gave up and had a good friend re-work the ECU to get the temp's reading right after I confused it severely trying to make easytherm work

Way to go fella, congratulations!

Just mine (well Anita's) to sort out now.

Then there's a V8 waiting for you to play with.

This is what worries me about Megasquirt stuff!!!!

I have set up many fuel injection systems, and calibrate temperature controlled machinery at work.

There is NOTHING remotely technical about adding an offset factor to te output from a variable resistor, to calibrate it to a required reference point, and yet somehow megasquirt seems to make it tricky!!

Having met Claire she knows PLENTY enough about engineering in general and engines in particular to be able to do most things, so it is surely the software that makes it tricky.

its the first thing you do on any normal system on the pre startup checks, set zero point on coolant temp, just a case of telling the ECU what the actual coolant temp. is with it switched on and reading the temp sensor.

I never even tried to use easytherm, I used a sensor from a vauxhall for the water temp and adjusted the bias resistor in the ECU to suit and managed to find a thermistor in the RS catalog that matched the megasquirt spec for the air temp.
If you use ford sensors and change the bias resistors for 27k ones it also reads correctly apparently.
Easy therm is supposed to be a quick easy way, but is not a 100 percent correct over the span and seems to cause plenty of firmware corruption problems.
