Zetec cams
Could a zetec run with the inlet and exhaust cams in the wrong sides?
Went to change my waterpump today after it failed 50 miles from home from Le Mans on Tuesday.
When I realised that I needed to remove the cam belt to change the water pump I thought I might as well fit the 2litre cams in to the 1.8 that i have
had for a couple of months.
knowing that the inlet cam has at lug at the end of the cam for the knock sensor I noticed that the one fitted to the 1.8 has the lug fitted to the
exhaust side.
Are the cams the same apart from the lug or am I going mad.

lugs are in the same place, so i think you have the 2.0 cams switched and timing is completely different as the one is intake and the other
exhaust.

Thanks for the pictures Werner.
I have installed the 2l ones with lug number 3 on the inlet side of the head.
I have not attempted to start the engine as it's not all connected yet as I couldn,t get one of the idler pully bolts of the water pump.
I'm pretty certain that the 1.8cams were on the wrong side but I could have been mistaken.

Lug has to be where the VR sensor is, so that's inlet side, so your 2L cams seem to be in the right place.
