bike engines

Hi everyone what a cool forum been looking round for a while and finaly found it.
anyway I have been looking into a bike engined car cuz
A. I like my revs thats why I drive a rotary
B. themain problem I have found with chucking in a rotary is the cooling issue, that cortina ratiatorisn't gunna cut it.
C. this is a track car so I couldn't give a dam if it isn't road worthy.

Bike engines, Fire blade/Hyabusa, are there any other decent options?

Differentials with electric reverse gear and Quafe diffs are out of the question, Where I live Austalia we have a rather shitty exchange rate with england X any price buy 3
or USA X prices by 2. and I don't car if reverse isn't a problem.

How is the bike engine connected to the differential? is there any special gearbox can u use the std gearbox with the bike engine.

Most modern 900+cc bike engines are suitable. The Blade engine seems to like been transplanted into a car though, some of the others need dry sumps, baffle plates ect... to keep the oil flowing during heavy cornering ect....the Blade gearbox is known to be a bit "Clunky" though, but is man enough for the job, Busa box's have an appetite for 2nd gears in bikes, more so in cars....

for a list full of guys who know there stuff, the bike box is connected directly to the rear axle via a normal prop shaft, (with a center bearing) either buy or make up a flange to replace the bike output sprocket, simple as that, keep an eye on diff ratio's though, i run a Blade engine, 3.9 diff, 15" wheels, give's me 124 mph on limiter in top, its a balance between acceleration and top speed.
Pheraps not much help to you but you mentioned track day car.. with this setup around donnington on the longest straight i all but get to rev limiter in top before braking (120mph) which is wot you want to aim for, just short of max revs before you brake at the end of the longest straight.

center bearing?
so would the prop shaft have uni joints at both ends or would it have another pair of the center bearing?

'most' cars have a centre bearing.

The sierra / granada donor does.

And yes, there is another UJ in the centre. Usuually one part of the prop runs in a rubberised surround in a 'U' clamp metal housing.

Have you made any mods to your engine in this respect? - sounds like you haven't, just checking...

nope, just slight overfill on oil level, to top mark then 1/2 litre more......
