Setting up Weber 32-36 carb

Realise this probably seems a pretty stoopid question to all those on here who know all about carbs... but I know nothing about them!

I bought my Weber 32/36 carb in the belief it was already setup for a 2.0 Pinto.

But! Judging by the awful fuel economy and the fact it's running really rich I started checking some bits and its not been setup correctly.
Judging by what's in the Haynes manual some of the parts (jets?) are for an automatic and goodness knows what else is in there!
Thing is, I have no idea what parts are what, and what I should be checking for!

So, assuming there's loads of wrong bits, what should I be checking for? Which parts actually vary between engines and therefore might be wrong?

And has anyone got the relevant parts for sale!

Thanks!

James

This carb is very easy to set up but if you are uncertian of its origin you may have incorrect jets in or other problems. U2U me with your email and I will send you a float set up guide, fault finding guide, exploded diagram of the carb and the list of original weber jets sizes. These are all genuine weber pdf files. If you look on ebay then there are a few weber agents on there so you can get the necessary parts.
If anyone else wants this info then U2U me.

Assuming it is an automatic choke one do you know if the choke is coming off when it warms up? Look down the top to see if the choke flap is open, sometimes the filter can physically stop the choke opening too.

Well... choke certainly works without the filter... never really bothered to check with. Pretty sure it's ok though.

Cheers,
James

Try running it without the filter and see if it makes any difference
