Twin webers + fuel pumps
Hi
After I couple of instances years back regarding leaking mech fuel pump diaphrams, I want to replace the mech fuel pump on my 1700 xflow with a facet
electric one.
Thing is I know bugger all about this so need some help.
1. For a 1700 burton on twin 40's, should I use a solid state or a "cylindrical" one.
2. Where does the chosen pump need to be fitted (near tank or near carbs) and does it need a pre filter?
3. What max psi does the chosen pump need to deliver to the above carbs.
4. The mech pump has no return line to the tank. Do i need one with the electric pump?
5. If answer to above question is no, then what happens when the pump is on but the engine is off?

You wont need return fuel line. The pumps get up to pressure and then stop. Dont get facet with too high a pressure. I tried a red top with 38 dgas
and it caused problems (actually a fire in carb throat). Regulator couldnt cope with the high pressure pulsing.
Id suggest a facet type should be at the back, low down ish, filter before and filter up front before carbs. Halfords have a handy shelf full for
selecting appropriate filters for space you have available. Buy biggest that will fit so flow is not restricted when they have been on a while.

most cut out at presure. So doesnt need a return. But it will need wiring so that it turns of with the ignition.
I am using this, They are about £45
Sold by webcon as recomended for weber's . No regulator needed. Front mounted and yes it will need a pre filter.
