unleaded pinto

I have bought a 2L sierra of 1988 vintage and dont know if it needs a fuel additive or will run on just unleaded. I intend to build my car with this engine then transplant a zetec at a later date. Any help would be appreciated.

Its a saphire GL if it makes a difference

88 probably is unleaded.. You need to see if it has either L, P, PP, R, or RR stamped next to No 4spark plug. (Pinto)

On the manifold face like so. If it's an injection head it is unleaded. Rescued attachment Unleaded.JPG

There are many people who have ran leaded heads on unleaded fuel without additives. Ive discussed this very matter before and was told, yes, there will be some regression of the valve seats after a good few miles of fairly decent use. Miles that our cars rarely see.

3 years normal use can be easily 30k miles. hard use same regression might be at 10K. Thats easily 3 to 4 years smiles. By then you will have the urge to rebuild and increase power etc.
