Zetec Sump
Right... having just finished the car, I have reliased the sump is far too low. I thought that it would be alright and I would put a gaurd on it but
it is already showing signs of being scratched, and I have only taken it round the block a few times.
So advice please. New sump from either dunnel, raceline, Scholar engines, any others??? Or do I try and shorten mine, the sump that I have has an
alloy top section and a steel lower section. Has anyone tried this? The car will be used on track days so I want something that is going to supply the
engine with oil even under silly g's.
What are the price difference between a dry and wet sump?

it'll cost about £100 for a modified zetec wet sump and about £800 for a dry sump system

From what you say I presume you have a later engine. I,m sure I found a web site for a guy fitting one to a Tiger had the same sump and lowered it.

I had a modified sump from Scholar for my series 1 (L reg) zetec. I was impressed with the quality of the welding and more importantly the thought
that had gone into the internal baffling. I have heard that certain companies that sell modified sumps omit any baffling at all. First fast
corner=potentially ruined engine.
I know your engine is a later model but I would still consider called Scholar as I am sure they would already have a solution for you.

Pretty sure the baffled and shortened zetec sumps from Dunnell and Scholar are the same, having met the bloke that fabs them up for them! They are
very well made.

I have just found out some important information. The engine I have is a stage 3 engine and therefore the sump is completly different, it is a two
piece job, and the windage tray is actually very well set up for baffels. therefore I have been given the plans to chop the bottom tin section to make
it the same depth as the bell housing.
Going to try it next week. Whats the worst that could happen.....:-)
Cheers for the advice, I think if I was going to buy one it would be from Scholar engines.
