Starter Motor Position
Does the FWD IB gearbox put the starter in the same position as a type 9 RWD bellhousing??
I want use one of the Ford FWD boxes as an adapter for my Toyota Supra box. The newer IB5 which has a nice hydralic release bearing might be better
but the starter is opposite the original position. Were these used in zetec engine Escorts and Mondeos??
I will just be using the front half of the casing with an adapter plate behind to mount the Toyota box. Its getting to be quite a common approach now
with other members on here doing the same. Any advise chaps??

Factory starter position for a FWD zetec car is the top left when looking from the timing belt....
To get it to fit in the bottom right on a blacktop, you have to grind away parts of the sump....

think the first gearbox you show is the same as the one fitted to the FWD in the CVH engine, as the CVH engine bolts straight up to the type 9 gearbox
and the starter is in exactly the same position so should be ok.
