Probably a l4 engine, nothing to do with a Pinto.
See this: l4

Yeah well thats what i was wondering really.
Just looking at a car.
- As far as i know the l4 didnt come as a 1.8? It also states its recently had a cambelt changing. Hence the confusion.
Seen the same engine in a seven before i think. This is the car in question.

That's just a phase 1 zetec engine then. They have DOHC 16v on the rocker cover, phase 2 engines have zetec on them and phase 3 has black
plastic rocker cover
I4 is 2.0 8v for the sierra and scorpio lump, 2.0 16v for the escort rs2000 lump and 2.3 16v(i think) for the scorpio

It says 130hp in the ad so most likely a zetec from an escort gti or similar.

Generally seams mechanically sound, but just untidy as such. For a three year old car anyway.
- Asking price is £4600.
Its currently on its third owner, who seams competent enough (has had kits before too) if not massivly clued up about the details of it.
Main downsides i can see is minor bodywork damage, all over the place. Just little inch long cracks, but one or two in every pannel. And crazing on
folds and nose.
- Also the bloke who built it could clearly weld, and had made his own engine mounts and the like. They seam strong enough and that, but there not
pretty. And the headlight mounts are welded on to the chassis with one side looking partiualarly non-expert. Although they doesnt seam to be any other
welding onto the chassis.
Also all the tyres are all newish, but all odd, p6000 one side, barum bravuris the other, etc.
Might make an low offer of £3k or somthing and see what i can get it for.
Its the first car that for sale that ive actually looked at with the intention of buying. Rather than someones im just looking at for interest like
worx's car.
- Obvously worx's was double my budget or more. So prehaps im expecting too much.
- A lot of other cars on pistonheads seam tidier in the photos, although ive not see them in the flesh. But there also all pintos/x-flows so maybe
thats half the thing?

Bloke has another engine too, later zetec badged 2.0 he was going to put in but never got around to that he said he would proberbly throw in with the
sale.
- Would need ECU, sump job, possable bike cars, etc.
Proberbly more work than its worth unless i was going to be doing a load of tidying on the car anyway. But if nothing else i guess it has a resale
value of its own.
Proberbly look at geting some bracing on that roll hoop too!
Wait for a Rainy and hope he's open for a quick sale opertunity?
He's trying to move house and has a campervan up for sale too.
