Clutch release bearing
Hi all,
Can anyone tell me if I have enough travel in my clutch before I rip my engine out once more?
I put the standard sierra release bearing in the type 9 and it “Feels” as if its engaging although I am unsure whether its going the full way
needed.
clutch travel
Sorry about the size of the pic, do Ctrl and mouse wheel to zoom out
Had the car running and clutch fully down and when I tried to stick it in 1st the car was creeping forward.
Is it the case that I need the Capri release bearing? Anything else that might be causing this like the friction plate the wrong way round?
Ta,
Nath

If the car is creeping forward, you dont have enough 'disengagement' I assume the pic is with the pedal up.
I had a similar problem, MT75 box, 1.8 Zetec flywheel drilled for the sierra 2.0L dohc clutch. The release arm is bent forwards just before it exits
the box, I cut the shoulders and straightened it a tad giving about an 20mm more travel, then re-welded it. The release bearing still doesn't
clear the input shaft support tube so all works fine.

Now then Nathan,
You need the longer thrust bearing mate.

You could move the pivot point of the clutch arm out but for the hassle I would just by a new bearing.
Ford part is ecb 110
Quinton Hazell part CCT133
cheers
