re-jetting bike carbs and carb spares

i've got a 2.0 ecotec, zzr1100 carbs, mega jolt

i beleive 1.8mm is the size to re drill the jets to, but where's the jet that needs drilling? is it the brass bit you can see when you take the float bowl off?

also, where can i get spare screws and stuff for my carbs?

If you do a search you'll find a picture of the main jet location but yes when you take the float bowl off it should be staring you in the face with a slotted head to it.

I would have though it might be a good idea to start a bit smaller.

I know mine is a smaller engine and smaller carbs, but mine are 1.6mm. The car runs well, but from the plugs looks a bit on the rich side.

Are you going to use an airbox? If so I think you may need smaller jets than with a sausage filter.

If you start smaller you can always increase if not rich enough.

Hi,

I am running a Ford 2.0Ltr DOHC on R1 carbs, I followed an Bogg Bros article which I found on here which said to drill main jets out to 1.8 for a 2 litre. I did that and I think it is overfuelling, I phoned them up (Bogg Bros) and they told me that 1.65 should be ok, just waiting to get the car on the rolling road to get this sorted, fortunately the rolling road people do have spare jets and are willing to progressively drill the main jets out to get optimum performance.

P.S. You can get small drills from hobby shops at a song rather than pay postage

Had mine down to BB a few weeks ago (before the hedge!) and my jets are now 180's. Thats a 1.8 zetec on ZX9R carbs.

IMHO the only way to get them right is get it on a rolling road and get it set up correctly. The airbox on mine was causing a lean restriction at high revs so off it came. The exhaust makes a difference as well so there's no second guessing the tune.. UNLESS your name is Dave Bogg because he is the main man
