53 plate fiesta stutter
swmbo was coming to see me today when the engine light on her fiesta came on. she drove it a bit further and it started flashing so she stopped and
gave me a ring.
went to see what was up and nothing was obviously wrong apart from a stutter between about 1-2000 rpm but it would drive through it pretty happily it
seemed. the light had gone off. didn't get to drive it myself but in the short time i followed her, the light came back on and stayed on
premanently. as she set off from mine, it sounded like it was just about running on 3.
she's now run off down to the ford dealers because apparently they know best. just wondered if anyone could shed any light on possible
causes.
my suspicions would be coil pack or maybe a duff plug but i'm not allowed to look at it. after a bit of research, a lambda sensor was mentioned
too.
many thanks as always,
tom

we had a similar problem with ours- it was the lamda sensor. felt like there was losses of power etc. it got replaced with a non genuine part and the
problem reoccured. replaced with a ford part and it's been fine ever since hope tht helps

sorted chaps.
she's just taken it to a little garage in dewsbury. they've stuck it on the diagnostics tester and then changed the coil pack, that
luckily they had in stock fom another job that didn't turn up.
15mins, in and out, £100 lighter but at least she's happy and we don't have a joint account.
vindicated! i still hope i'm not expected to fix it next time though!
thanks
tom
