Which carbs Dellorto or Weber ?
It's a long story but basically I have ended up with two pairs of carbs:
Dellorto DHLA 45's
Weber DCOE 45's
General opinion says that the Dellortos should be better quality,give slightly more power and stay in tune longer. However Weber parts are easier and
cheaper to obtain and Weber carbs are better understood at most rolling road / tuning centres.
I need to go with one or the other
What have other people used ?

I got Dellortos, was reading the book on both carbs and tbh they are both pretty similar.
I would keep the dellorto's. But it is certainly a tough choice

Maximum power outputs will be the same for either choice, assuming they are correctly setup. However, the Dellorto's do seem to have the edge
for use on the road, with a superior progression circuit design. Yes, spares are a little trickier to source, but the plus side is the numbers on the
various jets actually make numerical sense, whereas the Weber system seems to be completely random....
If you have both, and both sets are in good condition, I would personally go for the Dellorto's.

You'll need it on a rolling road which ever you go for. Do you have a local rolling road who you have had good reports from that you may use? If
so, ring him and ask his opinion. He'll have one even from the point of view as to the range of jets & tubes he keeps for each type.
By the way at this stage you may believe you can avoid the cost of a rolling road tune (ie - "the carbs came off a Pinto so they should be OK
for my Zetec"!!!) - you can't so don't kid yourself.

Even if they came off the same make of engine... they still need tuning and/or rolling roaded... cos every engine is different. So it dont matter
what engine it came off

Don't worry I'm under no illusions as to the need for a rolling road session. I have been told that John Wilcox at Hinckley (Leics) is
good but I have yet to contact him. It seems that the Dellortos are the way to go as this is primarily a fast road car that will do some track days,
rather than a race car I will occasionally use on the road.
Anyone else know of any other rolling road facilities in Leicestershire / East Midlands. Derby Racing may have one and there is one somewhere in
Chesterfield ?

Wondered when someone would ask that, answer is yes but not until I have the car running properly and I am happy that I don't need the other
pair. Rest assured I will put them up for sale on this forum first.
