which LSD?

Sorry, newbie question here. I have searched without much luck, so apologies if this has been asked before.

I have built a Locust with a X-flow and ford gearbox, and the car is running a 5-link escort rear axle. i am looking at upgrading the engine and gearbox, and feel i will need an lsd in the rear axle. From memory it came off a 1.3 Mk2 escort, so bog standard. Is there an lsd that will drop in to the axle case, and will I have to change the half shafts or is there one that is standard? The car weighs about 600 kgs and is not running particularly sticky boots at the rear, so I don't imagine that the halfshafts will be particularly stressed.

many thanks.

Not a cheap option with a Quaffe ATB from Burton Performance at £415 + VAT they also do Group 1 half shafts at £120 each.
It cpould be worth looking at using the Sierra LSD and changing to a De Dion set up.
The Escort axle was well known for half shaft problems and was only designed for about 50 bhp at the wheels.
Another place to look is Rally Design what you are after is the same setup as a lot of Escort rally cars use.
