BEC Rolling Road (Powercommander R1 5PW)??
I know this has been covered before a bit (did a quick search first) but anyone got any recommends for a BEC rolling road tuners that are familiar
with the Powercommanders (specifically the PC3R(ace) version which has ignition control as well as fuel) for my R1 5PW engined Fury.
I'm currently running a map blagged from the BEC list which was setup on a rolling road on a car with a similar foam filter and similar ish (who
knows!) exhaust setup.
However if its not mega bucks I wouldn't mind getting it checked / tweaked and may take the opportunity to fit an airbox of some description
instead of the sausage filter which is sucking a load of hot air and making a lot of noise (I like the sound but trackday noise testers
don't).
I've also heard that there are more advanced interfaces available (to tuners) for the Powercommanders that let them change stuff on the fly.
IIRC at the moment you make changes to the map then upload it. Not really the quickest way to try and map a car! Especially if you're going to
hold it at loads sites and do it properly rather than just a quick blast through.
Is that correct?
Near to Northampton or West Midlands would be a bonus.
Powertec in Peat-bog-horror is one name I saw mentioned when I did a search.
Also:
"Holeshot Racing- Bradford
PDQ - Berkshire
TTS - Northamptonshire"
But I'm sure I've seen others mentioned since that did a good job and were fairly cheap.
Also any idea on the total cost? If they are doing the ignition curve as well as fuel it will take longer...

I am using the original airbox as the Motaliera is rear engined, but I am ducting two side mounted 3" Naca ducts to it.
No amount of rolling road will simulate what will happen with the airflow into my system so I have an Innovate Gauge and lambda to tell what the fuel
mix is doing and a Power commander and LCD display (also Power commander) so that the map can be changed while actual driving is taking place.
The only stationary test is to set up the emissions "map" for sva/mot standards.
The PC lcd display has an SD card so maps can be saved/stored.
When you consider that a rolling road session can cost £200-250, then spending money on this kit will soon pay for it'self.

Is the PC LCD display compatible with the PC3R though. I bet it isn't as the newer (but inferior - other than connectivity wise) PC3USB uses a
USB connection (as the model name suggests!) whereas my PC3R has a good old fashioned serial port.
How much is the PC LCD out of interest?

I am not an expert on the possible connections but go here for
some info. I picked up my LCD for about £99 on ebay. The power commander also ebay for about £150.
Innovate LC-1 gauge kit from the US ebay for about £150

Yeah its USB only as I suspected.
However I didn't realise they now sell an ignition add on module for the PC3USB. They didn't use to do one for the 5PW in the past.
That said its still not worth changing my one over to a PC3USB + the ign module.

I can recommend TTS for BEC stuff in general though whether they're up on powercommander is another thing!!!
