Marina gearbox rebuild - cost ????

Hi guys, any ideas how much it will cost to to get someone to rebuild a marina gearbox ?? Its fitted in Marlin roadster.

Also, how easy do you think it is to remove the gearbox ? is it something that would be possible for me to remove and recondition, we think its only the speedo drive thats gone..and we really need the speedo to work !

Regards Andy

Seems an awful lot of work and expense to remove the box and recon it just
for the speedo drive. Can you not just take out the drive unit on it's own ? Can on
a lot of boxes.
If not it's robably easier and cheaper to fit an electronic speedo with a magnetic trigger
on the propshaft.

I seem to remember that they used this box on TR7s = could be cheaper to buy one from that rich vein of rusty scrappers than getting it rebuilt

Bit of a numpty where this is concerned im afraid....

Electronic speedo would be my choice!

Or buy a cheap SatNav which displays your speed! You'd get SatNav as well! I dont know if that would be OK for MOT (do you need a speedo?) and it's be no good for SVA if you've got that hurdle to cross!

you can pass an MOT with no speedo, as I did for three years with my buggy, but it is marked down as a note that is wasn't fitted at all

Might be worth giving A1 Gearboxes a ring , just up the A1 at Eaton Socon near St Neots.
