what materials for engine moutns and where to get it?
As per the title really I need to make up engine mounts for my Saab lump, adn whilst I can get the steel for them, where can I get the
rubber/poly/nylon/whatever-else from?

Don't know if they'd be anyuse for you but you can pick up engine mounts for escorts and capris on ebay, basically a really stiff rubber

Why not get the mounts for the car it came out of and then build a cradle that mates it to your chassis?

Land Rover engine and Fiesta gearbox mounts are easy to get hold of and cheap. They are handy having a bolt sticking out of each side as well.

As stevebubs said.
That's what I did for my V8. Used the SD1 engine mounts (chopped by about 40mm to bring the mounting rubbers closer in to the engine) then used
the SD1 rubbers mounted in cradles that I fabricated myself.

Right, I've made my decision
Bought a bar of Delrin, which I'l use to tmake my mounts with. It's pretty hard stuff, but should hold things nice and solid

I wouldn't use Delrin for engine mounts, you may as well hard bolt it direct to the chassis.
Go for one of the options mentioned above.

The engine mounts in the S14 (see avatar) were made of this. It's a good opportunity, I have decided, to make the mounts up using delrin to get
the engine mounted. If NVH is too severe, I'll make some out of a softer material, like poly, but poly is flippin expensive! Especially to try
fittings and get it wrong.

Delrin is very hard, and extremely non compliant. A man would be a fool to use it for engine mounts. (I nearly said 'moron', but Fozzie
would give me a tickin off for that. )
If you want to use Delrin, why not save money and use ali or brass, or steel even!They would give the same result.
Heck, why not just hard bolt the sucker and save a lot of work.
Do yourself a favour, and buy some Landy mounts for a few £'s each, and save your engine and chassis from a lot of unnecessary torture.
