Is it cranking? has it got a spark? is the spark at the right time or thereabouts? have you got fuel?is the fuel getting through to the cylinders? Have you set the valve clearances? has it got compression? Have you fitted new plugs? are the leads on in the correct order? has it got a bad air leak? is the choke operating? If it's still a crossflow then you can't really get a simpler engine so check things in a logical order HTH
