Omega
I Was advised not to use a ecotec vauxhall omega engine, as they are difficult to get running. Is this true, cause there was a totally complete one
in the scrap yard. Cheers

Possibly, according to age. IIRC if you intend to use the standard injection, ECU etc, IIRC some later models will also need the immobiliser system.
The ECU wont work without that.....
However, if you were looking at dropping it on carbs, why not get a 16v GTE engine instead? Far more BHP, same amount of work.....
Dont just build it.....make it!

its the wonderful language modifier. Check what it does to boll0cks and cater4am! nutsack and caterham...
usually works anyway.
As for donor, personally id choose a target bhp and pick the cheapest way to get there:
100 ish is pinto territory
150 is v6 or maybe 8
200 is simple turbo stuff, nissan or cosworth.
my choice for simplicity would be a silvia turbo or 200sx. both are RWD, whole car for around 500 or less maybe, plus potential for muchos power.
doesnt help if you only want N/A engines though!
ps obviously i cant spell caterham right cos it didnt change...

You just bolt it the same place as where the Ecotec engine come out of.....
Same bolt pattern on gearbox mate. And an extra 30bhp, potential for a shitload more, for the same hassle.....
Dont just build it.....make it!

A VX XE on 45's (N/A...) and in good health will give over 175bhp-in otherwise standard state.....
For an engine that was originally made in 1987 IIRC, that is pretty good going.
And they have all been wel run in...
Dont just build it.....make it!
