Pinto question ? (with some big'ish pics - sorry)

Has anyone bothered with one of these things ? (can't remember what they are called)

and if so have you had any issues getting the sump to seal over it ?

There wasn't one of those in my pinto - is it a cosworth thing to help control the oil splashing?

I guess it's because stock cars only have to turn right and it stops the oil sloshing up the left of the block too much?

So don't need it for a road car.......

Would that be a YB Cossie oil pump with spray tubes to feed the undersides of the pistons then?

Or is it part of a dry sump set up?

yeah thats it, standard for the 2wd cossies (205 blocks)
the 4x4's have different spray jets instead

std pinto rods have the jet on the side of the rod (fed by the big end) but cossie rods don't (to make them stronger I assume) so they need somethin else

Definately not part of a standard pinto engine, and not something I've ever seen in any stock car engine or used in my stock car. Some saloon drivers and engine builders do put a baffle in the sump, but I haven't ever done so and there have been no oil starvation problems without one.
