Gearbox Patterns?

Is the gearbox pattern the same between 1.6, 1.8 FWD and Type 9 all the same?

That is will an Escort 1.6i gearbox fit a blacktop 2.0 zetec engine??

Cheers,
Steve

If you are talking about the bellhousing to engine block bolt pattern then the Type 9 4 or 5 speed should fit every Ford inline 4 from the Crossflow to the Zetec. The MT75 also has the same bolt pattern but no removable bellhousing

There are two common FWD transaxles used on old Fords, the IB5, a lighter duty box fitted to the Ka, Fiesta, Focus and Escort and the MTX75 which is a heavy duty box which was always used with the 2.0 Liter Zetec.

You have the IB5, it will bolt up to the ST170 engine, but how long it will last is anyones guess.
