Binned pinto plan - heading Zetec
Blackcab - 2/8/09 at 06:34 PM

After a lot of thought I have decided to go down the Zetec route for my MK.

I a going to get a new engine from Kit parts or similar - has anyone got a good build diary of a zetec in to an MK

Also be interested if anyone is running a stock engine as appose to bike carbs etc

As a result I will be selling the pinto, Carb ( Single Webber ), Zorstec 4 to 1 exhaust ( unused ), and a few other bits I dont need - so if you need anything let me know.
The pinto is a 165 block - EMAX, whilst it looks in good condition I have never heard it run so would prefer to sell it as a non runner.

Cheers

There are a few on here that can wire up the standard ford ecu.

Ive done four pre pats and two pats 1 ecu's.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pxq4ks2Us_U

They have good and bad points.

Do you like wiring ? as the pats 1 ecu has 104 pins

Give me a shout if you want to know any more.

Hate wiring - hopeless at it, was going to call in the help of fellow indy builders, auto electricians, a BBQ at mine and free beer

Richard at GBSC has said he will do me a deal on one because I am buying a few other bits from them, I would prefer to buy it from them just in case there is anything wrong at least I have a bit of come back - sorry mate

big_wasa - 2/8/09 at 08:36 PM

That runs the standard efi. It gets even more involved if you try to run Tb's with it.

If your iva ing it then go bike tb's and megasquirt if on a budget or Jenvey and omex if your not.

Blackcab - 2/8/09 at 08:45 PM

Going Jenvey TB plus either omex or emerald ECU, I am on a budget but want it to be as good as I can get it at the same time, even if it takes a bit longer to build

austin man - 2/8/09 at 10:19 PM

Why buy brand new zetecs are good for 150k if serviced, average yearly us of a kitcar is 3 to 5k buy a low mileage second hand unit for £200 -£250. Im running a 76K silvertop on webbers and it goes like stink. Pointless buying new unless your going for a new build plate. Use your savings to buy a good ECU and map it to hell

Blackcab - 2/8/09 at 11:45 PM

can get a new unit for £600 ish all nice and shiny - seems worth the difference to me - Im a bit of a perfectionist with stuff and have been saving up for years so budget will stretch to it

lotusmadandy - 3/8/09 at 08:37 AM

I bought a 1.8 silvertop for a tenner.
when i opened it up it was still almost new
inside.
Its going in my car shortly.
