Pass at Nottingham yesterday
I was dreading the emissions test, but she sailed through with room to spare. Good times.
The good:
They liked the attention to detail, and I think that sets the scene, as they assume that what they can't see, is as what they can.
The Classic Mini boot hinges got a honourable mention, as did the lack of visible wiring in the engine compartment.
I used large panel grommets on the top ball joint nuts, this was given a mention in despatches
The Bad:
It was pointed out that a brake line, connected to a flexy bulkhead connector, didn't have much space between the lock nut and tube flare nut.
Fixed by removing washer from under lock nut.
Although the ZX12 silencer had triple folded edges around the ends, and would have been fine normally, because the silencer is at floor level the
edges failed the radius check.Fixed by fitting small edge trim, after the silencer had cooled down
The top seat belt mount covers: I made some from GRP and fixed with a M5 csk screw into the bolts DOH!!!! Fixed by fitting new bolts and sticking the
covers on with self adhesive tape
Edit to say that if you choose to fit the covers with self adhesive tape, fit them at the test centre, my covers are somewhere on the M1 north
Noise level check was 101dba, despite a cat and HOOGE ZX12 silencer. The test was carried out at 7500rpm, the can gives out a nice bass sound up to
7000rpm, then the motor comes on cam and it changes to a F1 scream, Niiice! Fixed by fitting a baffle in the tail pipe, I just happened to have one I
made earlier
Still was very close at 98dba, I think Andy was being very generous.
All in all a really pleasant experience, made so by Martin and Andy, they always do the utmost to get the car through, and are genuinely put out if it
looks like a fail.
If you are booking your IVA, go to Nottingham, but take the contents of your garage

Well done to you - I think you are right in your comment, they do like the attention to detail.
When I went to DVLA it seemed to help the process enormously that I had a receipt in my paperwork for a new chassis professionally manufactured. I am
sure you have one for them.

Don't forget to take a copy of the IAC before it disappears into the black hole that is the DVLA!

Went to see DVLA Sheffield this morning, they have the paperwork, didn't want payment, but they "will be in touch"
Doesn't look promising, does it?
Why are the DLVA Offices so inconsistent!!
Got a letter from DVLA, need to inspect the car on the 23rd So Newark a no go then

Can you offer to take it to them so they can see it sooner maybe?
Is it normal that the car has to be taken to local dvla office only asking because I spoke to chris at mnr and he told me I wouldn’t have to take it
