“Standard 10” axle width?

Hi everyone.

Long shot, but does anyone happen to know the width (wheel mating surface to wheel mating surface) of the Standard 10 axle as fitted to the original Lotus 7 Series 2 when fitted with the Lotus spec drums?

I’ve found vague references online to it having been 6” less than an Escort English axle but that’s about as exact as I’ve found. Could really do with an accurate measurement.

I’m still working on my narrow track S2 clone (my goodness there are some odd measurements in those Prince drawings, Fusion 360 is working overtime) and have stacks of axle parts in the garage ready to build one, but still don’t know what the original measurement was.

I’m coming close to buying an axle just so that I can measure it.

Standard 10 axles arn't very strong, hopefully the engine you are using isn't very powerful

Narrowest Ford english is a Ford Anglia 105e axle with a casing length of 45inches

Hi - sorry should have clarified. Yes that’s exactly the plan: use an English axle. But as I’m finicity I’ll be building the English to the same (or very close) dimensions, but need the Standard 10 dimensions so I know what I’m aiming at.
