Tonneau material

Hi guys,

I’ve got a striker with the usual tonneau style boot cover.
I want to get some more to fashion a removal cover for the car if I end up needing to leave it in the rain ever, but I’m struggling to actually find some tonneau sheet.

Is the material called something else and where can I get just the raw material to cut up and sew myself,

Thanks
Andy

we used stuff called ripstop. i think it gets used for boat sails?

managed to sew it with a standard sewing machine - albeit a slightly older electric hobby one.

I used the same for my cover, it kept the car dry all the way down the M5 on the back of a trailer.

Decent range of colours too, if that's your thing. For example https://fabric-direct.co.uk/?s=ripstop

That's what I made my seats out of, but it's not waterproof. Or at least the one I bought wasn't waterproof.

I got the fabric to make the tonneau for my fury from a excellent supplier called penine outdoor fabrics, they're up in Bentham but sent out a set of sample swatches so I could pick from a range and try stitching it too. Excellent company, and they sell webbing, fastners etc as well, all aimed at people who make their own outdoors kit like kayaker, climbers, campers etc, but it maps across well into lightweight kitcars.
