Hi all,
I had a VERY very strange text on my mobile, that has come from a friend, who is adament, he did not send!
he assures me, i can view his sent messages ect, to prove his innocent, but im still not sure
So is it possible for a text message, to be sent with someone elses mobile no to another mobile ?
steve
I never really thought about it before, but I guess modern smart phones are as open to certain viruses as any laptop.
Never heard of one that can do that though, but ive had text messages that come up with a name of where it came from, rather than a number, and its
not a number I have saved. Like insurance quote texts and the like, so I guess its possible?
I was once accused of texting porn from my phone to people in my phone book.
Which I hadn't, I was even shown the texts and I shared my sent items with them.
I got rid of the sim straight away and bought a new one.
Think the sim had been cloned no idea how.
There are web sites that allow you send text messages and the recipient would see the mobile number that the sender enters on the site. I often do
this with O2 but the recipient gets an O2 message at the bottom of the text.
Could someone have used you mates phone, send the text and then deleted it from the sent list without your mate knowing?
I'm not 100% sure, but with Android devices you can give applications permission to send texts and access your contacts list. So in theory a
rogue application could be sending texts without them being logged.
While the text message may not show up in his history, it might be worth asking his provider whether he's suddenly been sending loads of texts
without knowing.
All very interesting,
The "message" was quite personel, and not directed to me! (i hope) but its content contained info, that could of been from my m8, but very
loosley, but i would be surprised,
steve
Accidently sent to you then your mate deleted the evidence?

stop teasing, tell us what it said!
Try entering contents of the text into google. If it is a rouge text then other people will have received the same thing and the google search might bring up other discussions about it and help put your mind at ease about your mate.
It could be a spoof message like this. I have heard about them but never seen one used.
LOL Steve......you have not got any mates
