Mysteriously missing signature banner button


I’m having a rant, this morning i logged on locosters and saw a post by Malc At MB Customs the turbo bike specialist who help me do my turbo bec conversion.

That’s not the point though, i received a u2u from Chris W asking me to remove my banner and that i was advertising Malcs own web site at 12.24pm this afternoon, as i was busy at work i only logged on about 3.30pm, but by this time my banner was erased.

Now my point is this, why ask me to remove the banner when it was going to be done without my consent, I sent Chris a u2u stating I would remove the banner so as not to rock the boat as I put it.

I’m a down to earth chap, keep my opinions to myself and i hope that i come across to people that i am a nice friendly chap too. But im still a bit naffed off that this was done in such a manner.

I actually feel in some way Violated.
I thought we had a sense of community on Locostbuilders. My faith in it has gone im sad to say.

Ive only just this last few days become a comunitty supporter. And i have to admit that having read this thread, im wondering if i now regret doing so.

Ive read and learnt a lot from you guys over the last month or so as i gentle rev up to buying into the locost arena. But reading this thread ive seen another site to the site that i dont really like.

I run/administate/moderate another forum i use a lot (Canalworld.net) and it is harder work than i think most people give it credit at times. And i understand the reasons behind not wanting certain things in signatures (we've been as far as geting half way to caught over a link in a members sig before now, and threats from our host to take us offline) and its fair enough to request its removal, chris is the owner of this place, and its his rules.
- But then to remove it before the members even had fiar chance to reply is a little out of order in this cast i feel.
- And certainly, i dont see that banning mr whippy for that photo is anything other than childish, im afaid.

Hopfully we can get over this, and both of the members involed can rejoin us shortly. But you can always loose members far faster than you can get them back, and thats aways a shame for everyone.

Be careful Daniel, saying things like "banning someone for a photo is childish" is likely to get you banned! Oh, hang on a second, you are ok 'cos your name starts with a D, unlike Whippy, Welderman and WorX!!!

My lovely Fiance, who just happens to be from communist Poland has just pee'd herself laughing at the petty censorship that this site has exhibited! Ah well, the downhill slope is a slippery one!

Well the way I read it, all links to companies i.e MAC#1, BEC Centre, MNR, etc. by satisfied owners / customers and are not traders must be removed

The fact that these companies already have paid as Traders makes no difference according to Chris' statement.

Hopefully common sense will prevail and the teddies will be welcome back in the pram

Morning all, i have phoned Malc at his workshop this morning to ask him about a turbo conversion im thinking of doing (was being nosey really), he did not go into any detail about the trader status but was indeed shocked that some users had been banned and felt extreamly sorry for them, but he did mention that Dax cars and westfield owners had emailed him and have asked him to join there sites as he would be very welcome in giving his advice.
So who has lost out here, us locosters thats who.

Im sure there will be more to it than meets the eye. If we cant be sure we are in full reciept of the facts then we arent really qualified to comment. Im a firm believer in the saying "You never know what goes on behind closed doors".

I dont recall anyone saying Malc isnt welcome on this site as a member like the rest of us. The only issue was in the commercial side of things. I dont think he will be able to tout his wares on WSCC either. He may be able to offer his services in the context of a general post but i doubt will be able to advertise.

I have just collected my Dax from MB customs yesterday,when all this was going on,i was keen to see what this web site was all about,from the way i see it,and what was said,he tried to pay the trader fees paypal had a problem with his card,so he offered to pay by cheque,as for the for sale engine,it was a surplus R1 item that he had got in for someone,was let down,so he offered it to this site for what it cost him 300 in a way i think it is a shame to loose someone with his knowledge and experiance,because the kit he has just fitted to my car is a work of art.358 BHPEEEEEEEEEEEE on pump fuel.

Welcome to the site Witch Hunter. What an amazing coincidence that you join the site today just when all this is going on. Your car sounds fantastic, would be great to read about it later if you put a post up.

All i was trying to say was its a commercial matter and should be treat as such. Im sure he will be missed, lets hope it gets resolved.

The way I see it, there are two simple solutions to this problem

1 - Malc pays for trader status. Even if he can't pay through paypal, I'm sure he can give someone the money to set it up on his behalf.

2 - Remove all links to his business from his user profile and carry on using this forum like the rest of us.

The problem has already been solved. Links, phone numbers, etc have been removed from Malc's account. He is more than welcome to continue using the site on a personal basis. However, if he wishes to advertise his business, he will need to pay for trader status.

The people that have been banned are down to them placing banners for Malc in their signatures despite being asked by me not to, which as far as I'm concerned is a 'finger up' to me, the person who funds the site. Would you expect to go to a party, tell the host to "£^% off, and be suprised if you were asked to leave? Didn't think so!

My rule is this: If you are making money, or even trying to make money, on a regular basis out of the use of this site, you pay a contribution towards its running costs. I don't think there is anything unreasonable about that, so if you don't like it, go somewhere else!

As far as I was aware Chris, Worx was never asked by You to remove the banner. And Welderman was asked by you, but before he'd even logged on again, you had gone into his account and removed it!

If you read the post from the start, where I posted the u2u sent word for word, you will see that Welderman was not asked to remove it, he was asked not to put it back (I had already removed it). The first thing he did when he got back was go against this, and then encouraged others (worX) to do the same.
