Robin Hood Exmo. Lucas ACR17 not charging modern replacemment.
I was given a Robin Hood a couple of months back, the onlythign stopping it from being on the road is a lack of charging.
Pinto 2.0
I replaced the Regulator and rectifier with no improvement. A "New" one gave no charge either.
The space in the hood is tight a larger alternaor fouls the steering column.
Anyone got an idea on an easy fit replacemtn that's the same or smaller size?
Cheers
Rob

one of the oddest failures in a lucas alternator circuit is the charge light / dash bulb. I suggest you check this before going any further ;-)
edit to add, lots of info on internet once you know what to look for.

Photo of the back might help identify the problem.

to make it clear
The alternator WILL NOT CHARGE without the 2.2W bulb working. it will not work if either shorted, or left open circuit.
edit
it will also not work if the bulb is replaced by an led
