Type 3 gearbox
I am currently running a Type E gearbox that is dying. I can pick up a reconditioned type 3 gearbox out of a 1.6 sierra at a good price. Doing some
searches, it would seem i have to change the clutch (No problem) but does anyone know if the output shaft is the same? I don't want to have to
change the Propshaft.

The rear spline and OD of prop on the Type 3 is smaller than the Type E.

Thanks for the bad news.
Are the Type 3 boxes decent? Is it worth the effort the have the propshaft modified?

Quote Burton performance..... Type E box used for more demanding applications than the Type 3, also the Type E was/is known as the Rocket box and i
believe has better ratios, it is a 4 speed version of the Type 9 or should i say the Type 9 is a 5 speed version of a Type E.
Type 3 box 7/8" x 20 spline
Type E box 1" x 23 spline
I would stick with a Type E
