Removing a ford ignition barrel without key
I know that you are supposed to have the key to position 1 or 2 to push the little bit in to remove the barrel, but can this be done without the
key?
Obviously i have a barrel i need to remove but no key!!!
Any ideas please while keeping the rest of the housing intact so i can fit a different barrel!
Cheers,
Andy

Many years ago my cavalier sports hatch (not bad for a 19 year old student, about £150 to insure back then) needed a replacement barrel as mine had
turned a tumbler (ie key wouldn't go in) My solution was to wack a 1/2" drill through the barrel, it sort of fell apart and came out in
bits. A bit brutal, but worked![](/images//smilies/bigsmile.gif)

If it still don't move you can lever it out after driving a screw driver into the key slot and forcing it around at the same time. Just
don't over do it and it should give up the fight, my one did after about a 40 min fight.

Tell them about the bent treacle edges!

Drill into where the key goes using 10mm drill till you can remove each
tumbler then you can see a roller pin in the side flick it out then turn the
lock to position 2 and then you are able to push the peg in on the outer
case and then you can slide the lock out without any damage to the outer casing
done loads worked at Ford main dealer for 10 year it was an every day job.
