where best to take water temp
Hi
fitting water temp gauge on R1 carb model. Where is best to take the water temperature from. Where to locate the sender.

Where it exits the engine for a gauge, so if you cannot plumb just before the thermstat then fit in the top hose.

Yes a gauge should go in the engine water outlet before the thermostat if that is not suitable anywhere in the cylinder head, or in
the coolant by-pass circuit
