Diff mounting

Hi all, just had my xtreme mapped and on the rolling road, but more of that later. The guy doing the mapping said he felt the back axel felt loose, and lately I have noticed a clunk when going changing from fwds to backwards at slow speed . The back end also seems to jump more over ridges in the road, esp on m/way at over 70:-( . The car feels solid when trying to rock it from side to side.
My thoughts are could the diff be loose or if the diff is flexibly mounted and do the mounts wear out?
Other ideas could be that the suspension arms bushes are knackered but I think this is unlikely as they were replaced approx 3 years ago.
Look forward to your ideas thoughts
Cheers Alex

Check the tightness of propshaft flange bolts and the diff mounting bolts first.
Then all the bushes.
Also keep in mind a clunk when going from forward to reverse can also be caused by lost motion in the brakes.

Some good ideas and will get under the car this afternoon and tighten up everything!

I have a "top gear" style race next weekend to the watch the French round of World Superbikes in the middle of France... around 350miles and we are not "allowed" to use toll roads and m/ways. I need to know it will stay together!

Cheers

one more question probably an obvious question to some, can you lift the car on the diff with a car jack...??

tightened up all the bolts I could find at the back end and it is much better - slightly squeaky when manoeuvring, but much better . Some of the diff and suspension bolts were definitly too loose on one side! Wonder how long they have been like that
Thanks for the advice British Trident!

You wouldn't believe how much noise they make when a diff mount fails, or how far the diff moves

On the plus side, no reverse motor clearance problem now
