I've used an old, nearly worn out Scotchbrite pad which gives a matt polished finish.
Unless there's salt around the panels then adopt their own dull finish due to oxidisation.
Just test somewhere out of sight to make sure it's the finish you're after before attacking the whole car.
Alternatively Autosol gives a nice polished shine and some protection but quite laborious.
HTH.

Aluminium should be polished using elbow grease,

then finished off with copious quantities of love & care.

Alternatively do what I did and buy an electric polisher.

Peel the plastic with the aid of hair dryer then clean glue residue with D-limonene based degreaser.

Don't rate Solvo Autosol my self I've tried loads of different types Maguires all metal Polish is good and easy to get hold of but by far the best I've found is California Customs Original Metal Polish but can be difficult to get hold of. First time I used it I thought this isn't any good as it didn't feel like it was polishing so I wiped it off and was amazed at the difference
