What action cameras do people use and how good are they?
Just looking to get an action cam ready for when my Mac#1 is on the road, and a friend of mine pointed out to me a link to a webshop where they had
some offers on refurbished Drift cameras and it got me thinking about it again. I know a few of you use cameras on your cars and I wondered what ones
you are using or have used, and what you liked and didn't like about them particularly ????

I have an SJCAM SJ4000 WiFi (careful with the copies).
This is a copy of some older gopro model and accessories fit. But the cam comes with loads of accessories.
What I like is the WiFi, the quality of the image, the load of accessories, the price, the Android App to control it via WiFi.
What I don't like is that, with WiFi turned on, the battery only lasts about an hour and it takes a lot more than that to fully recharge.
See my youtube channel for a couple of videos done with the cam and then using RaceChrono PRO to overlay data on the image. Cam is inside the provided
underwater casing and held on the rollbar using some accessories, some foam with sticky on both sides and a couple of plastic wraps. https://www.youtube.com/user/dnloreto/videos
I've got both go pro and sj4000. There's no difference between the two except the price. The sj4000 is much cheaper and comes with loads
of different mountings. Unlike the go pro
i use the Garmin VIRB Elite, it comes with built in GPS, G-Meter and altimeter. with the free software download you get an option to overlay your
route map, lap times, speed and G-forces
Best of all its waterproof so no need for an outer casing and its cheaper than the Gopro
Downside is the built in mic is not great, I am playing with positioning of an external mic so I can hear the engine better now

2 x Go Pros (hero 3 Black) and 1 x Lily Camera (hacked to fly and follow up to 40mph)
Sometimes cheap isnt as good, ive had several of the cheaper cameras and nothing compares to the GO Pro. The Lily camera also has very good footage
as it uses a sony Chip.

There are some shops here in Tenerife with the go pros in aroiund 250~300€ and right next to them what looks like a blatent rip off copy for about
€60!
GoPro gets my vote every time. Had a Hero2 HD version until some light-fingered a-h0le relieved me of in on holiday recently. Picked it up in the
States just before the model was released over here, and paid less in $ than it would be retailing for in £ here (at the time x-rate was about $1.5 =
£1). Stocked up on accessories as well, especially batteries, the battery bacpac, and mounts galore.
Now purchased a Hero4 HD and love it; has Bluetooth and WiFi built in, so you can mount it anywhere and set it up from your phone or remote control.
Not the cheapest at about £300, but well worth it if you like full HD of 4k videos. Only thing I'd say is avoid the models with built in LCD
screens as they drain the battery like something chronic, but you can add secondary battery packs or buy a couple of spares, and away you go.
Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity!
I'd had bullet cams before that you hook up to external recorder, but did a bike track and the thing kept turning off as soon as I left the pit
lane Grrrr
60 frames a sec 1080 and 120 frames 720 not sure if other cameras can do as high frame rates
