First of all - forget the £250 bit! Add one zero and you've got a reasonable price if you build your own chassis and have contacts in the motor trade (as in your case).

If you're a competent MIG welder, or are prepared to spend time learning, then building your own is very rewarding. If you just want to build a car and get driving quickly then a kit is a better option.

There are a few good kit manufacturers around - wait a while and everyone will list their favourites!

so your gonna get a nice family car like a locost then? or have you already bought the family car and want something a bit extra? no need to answer.

you can buy everything that makes up a locost. If you cant weld you can buy a chassis. If you cant use fibreglass you can buy the body work. There are many companies now that supplie all the parts and you can pick and choose which ones you make to reduce costs. Ok this does mean that the price goes up but also usually means a quicker build.

try...
Luego sportscars
MK sportcars
GTS
Stuart Taylor
MAC1

who have i left out......

all slightly different but get onto their websites and have a look. Youll also find a wealth on information on this site. There is a good search function to find out if the question you are about to ask has been answered already

cheers

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Chardonnay in one hand, Tequila in the other, body bearing battle scars and totally worn out, screaming- WOO HOO!! What a Ride!
