engine kit 800 to1500 quid(inc carbs/injectors+ loom
exhaust manifold 250 to 350
propshaft 100 modified
sprocket adaptor 50
airfilter/box 50 to 150
fuel pump
gearlinkage
dynojet kit or power comander
instrument changes rev counter etc
diff change if current ratio not ideal
chassis mods and cradle
all less what you can recoupe selling current set up.
i would budget 1500 to2000 dependent on engine age/spec

Depends on what power you want, but a bike engine with 150bhp might equal a cec with 200bhp, so buy a ZZR1100 for £500, then you just need the
prop adaptor.
I sold my 'busa just over a year ago (complete road legal - tax/mot) for 3 grand. Buy complete, take what you want, flog rest. It might only
cost £1500 for 175bhp plus prop adaptor
Me, I agree with NeilP

Sell me your car for a grand and build a BEC from scratch

At this point i'd usually jump in with the fact that becs go round corners much better than cecs, but for some reason it don't seem
appropriate

I had an offer from a user on here on £1800 all in to convert to an R1 engine.

Stick with the CEC and make it go faster.
A 200bhp CEC will be similar performance to a BEC, but quieter and more relaxed. Then you have the best of both worlds. Oh and when it goes pop it
doesn't cost much to fix.
I swapped to Zetec over the winter, then upgraded heads and cams for more power. I bet it is not far off BEC performance despite being much heavier
(due to creature comforts!!)
When I left a piston in France I fitted another £150 lump with my head and cams and am running again for less than £200.
And I can still have a conversation with the passenger at low speeds and can drive around in town as happily as I would in my tintop.
Would I swap for a BEC....... Not a chance, although I once thought I would.
Summer's here!!!!

You have to admit that you were rather fortunate not to take out the head and cams that got you to 200bhp when your piston let go, which would put a
rather different slant on your outlay to repair it, and I can't help thinking that to get a genuine 200bhp out of a Zetec to start with
you'll be paying a lot more than the grand you'll pay for a decent BEC engine!
