99 R1 Engine oil, filter and plugs? Also how?

Hello all, after asking about the oil level window on my car (and it being black!) I reckon an oil change is required, so the question is what oil, filter and plugs do I need to get? Would more than likely get them from Halfords as one close to me....

Also, is it the same as a car, get it up to temp, remove sump plug and filter then refill with required amount of oil?

Thanks

Lee

Thanks

Lee

Hi, you will most likely get the oil and filter in halfords as for plugs its a maybe they stock a fair few individuals but mine doesnt sell the iridium ones needed forthe 2002 model needs but i think im right in thinking the pre 2002 models are easy and cheaper to come by. As for which ones you need there is a listing in the halfords stores to lookup the parts and check the castrol website for the correct oil probably castrol 10w40 fs racing T4 possibly part synthetic though.

As for procedure - yes same as a car, hot, remove plug, remove filter, refit filter topped up with some oil and oil on and around the seal and fit hand tight then fit the plug and refil from clutch cover. This method requires about 3.1 litres but if you remove the sump(new gasket may be required) and the oil cooler you will get almost all the old oil out and will need about 3.9litres which imo is best but i doubt most do it.
Regards
Adam
