Dan - you need a V112 form... LINK

Did mine at Ipswich DVLA office on Monday. They managed to update a V5 with a new engine number and capacity, change the tax class (new engine is >1549cc), and issue a shiny new tax disk all within a few minutes with no hassle. Also as a bonus, the nearest car park to the DVLA is in front of a KFC so I managed a sneaky scooby snack on the way back too. Happy days!

PS: You should've re-taxed yesterday - it would've been £15 cheaper...

The exact same thing happened to me when i used my reminder ref number....but i when i completed the lower half of the web page asking for registration mark and document ref number (on front of log book) it worked!!

that didnt work for me. Mines been sorned since december.

Was gonna tax it earlier in the week but havent had time and had to wait to get paid today. Plus its still in bits. Just taxing really for cars on the green at the end of the month.

Do you have to go to the dvla to use that form or will they do it at a po?

Just happened to me as well - only registered in july last year! think its to do with the age related plate as mine is FC03 so thinks its 2003 not 2009. Not sure why they gave me FC03 though as the donor is a 1988 sierra!

I reckon the post office will be the same so i will just ring DVLA office when i see a glimpse of sunshine

V112 should work in a post office... its an alternative to an MOT certificate for use when taxing a vehicle. Take your V5 along too...
