Locost Handling - General Question
phil_far - 25/6/10 at 04:49 PM

Hi,
I have just sailed through my SVA and got my chassis number (in Malta things work a bit different). On my way back home I pushed my blade powered locost a bit more (this is the third time i driven the car). I noticed that when flooring the accelerator on low gears the back end slides towards the driver side. My car has not been set properly (corner weighted) so I guess things will improve. I was curious whether this is something normal...or maybe my question is totally stupid ...

Nevertheless the car came back in a straight line by playing on teh throttle...and it was so much fun driving...

IF you really floor it then I believe some squireling as the wheels spin up is not uncommon. Look at the way F1 cars squirrel out of the pits.....

I presume you have a normal (none lsd)diff?
And hard tyres?
And dusty dry road surface?
In which case very possible, be carefull!!!!

thats just your thrust angle. you want it as close to zero as possible, toe affects it and camber affects toe, so sounds like you need it set up

Hi Phil,

there's a couple of books for sale by a member called Designer on here at the moment.

A couple of them are quite good set up books for suspension and car handling...

I've read more than a few in my time and prob only understood 10% of it all, but I still feel that I'm in a better situation now than before.

Of course you can take your car to a guy (assuming you have one or two in Malta!) to set it up for you, which is fine, but it's nice to have a little knowledge also, so that if you change anything, you know what SHOULD happen and why stuff DID happen!

ATB
Steve

Don't forget that most roads aren't flat either !

Mine does the same Phil, however I had cornerweighted mine... then again on our roads what were you expecting??
