Last time I went they were happy as long as it was securely mounted.

.......probably will if the trailer is unavailable.

It's just that running a k-series and being an incurable pessimist means I'm always expecting the worst on trackdays....

My fears haven't always been unfounded either...

Couldn't get the trailer, but have now booked in for this event. Just hope the k doesn't spit it's dummy (or rather it's oil, as it did on it's previous track outing, different engine now though).

Hi,

Great day at Abingdon, good to meet Stu & Geoff.

Geoff whats the prognosis on your engine?

Unfortunatly i too suffered a failure on the way home....... driving along then no oil pressure and rattle rattle..... thinking the worst at the mo, so will be after a cheap blackbird engine to swap over for the meantime and build up a stronger replacement over the winter to swap over for next year

Bad luck Ash - seemed to be a day for engine failures.

I'm sure it'll be my turn next!

I was really pleased that the handling balance on mine is great now and very neutral, meaning I was able to overtake a lot more stuff than usual.

I've uploaded a video Link and there are some more processing on youtube.

......not fully sure what the damage is just yet, I was just about to disappear out to the garage to pull the head off.

My suspicion is another split cylinder liner, had this before at a Lydden Hill outing, very similar fail mode, i.e instant failure with plenty of steam/smoke to liven things up. There was so much smoke I actually thought I was on fire and made sure I reached a marshall's post - think I would have been wasting my effort though as I didn't see any extinguishers anywhere near......

Sorry to hear you had troubles too, seems there's nothing like a trackday to show up the weak points in our cars..

.....yep, a nice big crack (!) in the liner of no. 3 cylinder. Bugger.

Was half hoping it was the gasket as it would have made for a nice easy fix. Oh well, have a cuppa then back out to pull the motor out I suppose...

There's some suspicion re: the head or gasket, but I'm only intending on using the bottom half of the motor so hopefully there won't be any problems........
