any advice would be very much appreciated, its the first one and i know i'll be $hittin it
Go fast???
Take the first few laps steady then build up your speed, you've got all day. Its easier to take a corner faster next time than to loose a bit of
speed if you go in too fast.
Stay to the right and let faster cars through.
enjoy yourself
Pull in every once in a while and check your car over.
From the voice of inexperience i would say build your speed and confidence slowly and you will no doubt be begging for more when the end of the day
comes.
I would second what Smart says about checking your car.
Having never tracked a car i may be all wrong but thats the approach i would be taking if it were me.
make sure you have plenty of tiewraps and petrol! Also the obvious full license, helmet and gloves, spare oil etc.
Keep checking mirrors, do push harder, do let it cool for a lap before coming in, and make sure you use every inch of road!
when and where is it??

Before you get to the track check your car - tyres, oil, brakes, discs, fluid levels, seatbelts.
Helmet and licence.
Firstly take note its not a race. Its a track day for your enjoyment and everyone else's. Some long standing track dayers still cannot come to
terms it aint a race - nuggets!
Secondly relax and breath - sounds daft but amazing what the adrenalin does.
Take plenty of fluids with you. Build your confidence and experience. Get to know the track and your capabilities before finding the capabilities of
your car.
Plan your last lap of the track and slow it down on that last lap and avoid using your brakes. When you come in DON'T put your handbrake on!
Give your car and other drivers plenty of respect irresepctive of what you and drive and what they drive.
Keep an eye on the fuel guage - you won't be getting 40+ to the gallon - and some track day organisers will fine you for running out of petrol
and so they should!
Tyre pressures - lower for the track as they will heat up quicker. And whilst on tyres, take at least a lap or two to get some heat into them - even
better is to put tyre warmers on
Check oil and fluid levels regularly.
Take a spare set of wheels and tyres if you can just in case - shame to get a pouncture or something and lose the rest of the day.
Take some spanners and tie wraps and some gaffer tape.
And last but not least - enjoy it and book your next one now!
One piece of advice I learnt after my 3rd bike trackday - get a trailer
I hope you have a great time and I can guarantee you will be hooked and your finances will take a battering...

Plenty of good advice above. Only other thing I would add, is to go round your vehicle and make sure all your nuts are tight.
Phil
Ive only done 2. Was very apprehensive and overwhelmed 1st time. Honestly nothing to worry about. Trackdays are not about being the fastest. They are
about having fun and learning.
I went to a BMW track day a while back. Yes there were M3 track monsters there. But the car that stood out was a E reg 316. That guy had a hoot.
Just suss out whatthe tules are ref overtaking, watch out for faster cars and enjoy. Its great when you build up speed over time and realise how much
faster ou are getting. Above all take advantage of the track time and get out there.
Dont forget a change of pants, just in case!
I wish id taken some, check out the link,my bit of advice is, dont get over confident, like wot i did.Have Fun
