I picked up my "new" set of wheels yesterday.

Massive thanks to Iank for collecting them / bringing them up from Cam for me!

The tyres are shot and they could do with a refurb, but to be fair to the ebay seller, he described the tyres as shot, and they were only £60 for a set of 4 minilites in 13" and hopefully the right offset for an Indy.

Anyway, once they are refurbed, and shod in new rubber, they'll need to be stored, before being fitted to the car.

What is the best way of storing wheels / tyres so they don't deform, corrode or get scratched?

Looking for ideas as to designs of tyre racks etc that I can make out of timber (as I can't weld!) and will fit in the garage!

Personally I wouldnt bother getting them refurbed until you are ready for them. Build your car and do all the jobs you need to do such as fitting the wheel arches etc and then when the car is nearly finished, just get them sorted out at that point.

Just wrap the refurbed wheels in bubble wrap and store someplace safe. If you have to stack them put some thick cardboard between each wheel . Leave fitting the tyres until needed.

Paul, the car has been finished and on the road for nearly three years now (almost due an MOT!).

Rusty, the plan is to fit some dedicated trackday rubber to them, probably slicks, so they'll be on and off the car, rather than being kept until needed.

Hope that makes sense.

wheels with tyres always as a tower, tyres without wheels always next to eachother.

Even better get a wheel tower, so each wheel is suspended by a plate with a pin thru the pole instead of by another wheel

No problems with the pickup, except those caused by the middle of Cambridge at rush hour and some shoddy repair work from a previous owner/garage

For storage it depends on your garage, but maybe some shelves hanging from the joists.
