modee - 23/12/08 at 09:18 PM

Updated list of dates now on 750mc website. Anglesey and Cadwell are now two day meetings.

Hi

well thats a decent compromise. I guess with the large number of drivers in the championship it will be hard to please every one but that should please most in the locost championship.

Any one taking bets on whether this is the final plan or more to come.
Personally i rekon now that the locosts have had there dates changed a few off the other formulas might want there double header spreading out a little. Guess we will have to wait and see.

Its utter madness.

With minimal chance of any heats other than Cadwell, we have needlessly increased the cost of racing this year.

The only other round in 2008 to have heats other than Cadwell was Lydden (which we are not doing to save costs)

Staying over a further night , then sitting around until four in the afternoon for a 15 minute race so that people can have more time to sip their tea!

In Plan B, there is only one weekend between the two Brands rounds to get the car sorted now that the races are on a Saturday.

How many are going to say that they could not get their car fixed in time to race at Brands?

Saturday races takes away any chance of using race weekends to finish preping the car. Late week day nights for those who are not cherry picking events......

Finally, we are going to be forced to travel in the Friday night rush hour as the distances for some will be too far on a Saturday morning.

Why are we the only people in Motorsport not addressing costs, but adding to them!

Tea sippers v the racers

Si,

It's not that bad. We've got two long weekends now, both being (for most) long haul races, so two extra overnight stays over & above what you would have had to do with plan A. The one weekend between Anglesey & Brands was in plan A, so no change there. The rest (late nights prepping the car, Friday nights on M11/M25/M-whatever with trailer) we've always had in previous years.

Anyway you're always welcome to come & have a chat while we're waiting for our 4pm race. Do you take milk & sugar? ;-)

Cadwell will have heats and therefore should be over two days, the others do not warrant it.

Plan B will stop people from racing, which is silly.

Plan A would only help those on a limited budget.

If you keep telling the truth for long enough eventually you get found out.

Better bring a big kettle as there will be five of us!

I agree plan A would give lower costs, but the difference is pretty marginal. Two nights in a Travelodge is £100 tops. Or am I missing something here?

Sounds to me that the club has listened to its members and made alterations to suit. That has got to be good news.

While some may bemoan the cost of an extra night at the circuit (minimal compared to fuel and race entry costs), I think there are many who will be glad for a chance to socialise and chat to friends/competitors in the evening. For me, the social side of the racing is almost as important as the racing itself. Having two races in one day means you are rushing around with little else to do but focus on getting the car ready etc and then bugger off immediately after the second race.

Having a race on the Sunday also means you have a chance to fix the car if you happen to have a bit of an incident in the first race - that has saved many people in the past, me included :-)

So its not all doom and gloom, as Matt says a sensible compromise to keep most people happy.
