Birkett
BobM - 31/10/11 at 10:30 AM

There were quite a few Locosts out playing at Silverstone over the weekend.

Our team (Rabid RGB) managed to win Class A for roadgoing cars under 1600cc or BECs under 1000cc. We won by 6 seconds after a brave move into Copse with 2 laps to go by Dave Watson in his CBR powered MNR. The rest of the team were Austen (MK9R) in his R1 Q20 Fury, Ben Butler in his 919 Fireblade Westfield, Paul Rickers in his R1 powered Phoenix, Steve Malyon in his CBR MNR and me in my ZX10R BDN.

Roll on next year! Be good to see more teams from here - it's fantastic fun with 60 cars on the GP circuit at a time.

A totally awesome event and for all 5 drivers and 4 cars, it was our first time not only on the Birkett, but on the GP circuit.

We finished 21st out of 63, 5th in class A.

Videos and write up to follow on www.sewc.co.uk in due course.

You better polish that Class A Winners trophy before we have it off you next year

A brilliant day to end a brilliant season!!! Can't waiting for 2012! I'll edit the in car footage and get it up, the speed differentials between cars on the track makes for some exciting moments!!!

Excellent race report Steve. Great result for your first Birkett. As Brian has noticed it is very important to make full use of your registered fuel capacity. Its amazing how far a 750mc Locost will go on 20 litres if you wind the revs back a tiny bit.

Maurice Dudley (Team Manager. Four Corners).

Thanks Maurice. A few pointers have been noted from this year so hopefully we'll be better prepared for the next one.

Just updated www.sewc.co.uk with the full video from the Birkett as filmed and edited by Thomas Cowley. He has done a fantastic job and it really brings back the memories of a couple of weeks ago. Cant believe its a whole year until we get to do this all over again. Fabulous work Thomas!

Who's the fat bloke sat on the car second from the right?

steveiow - 9/11/11 at 03:49 PM

Far right on the car in the video at the end is me, then to the left sitting on their car is Max Lees, light grey race suit.

Ah, that Max is a chunky lad isn't he?

I'm only messing around; I found Max to be a really good Lad (who can thankfully take a joke) when I raced with him. Is he still persisting with the 5-speed 'box Steve?

procomp - 13/11/11 at 08:20 PM

Hi

Persisting with the 5 speed. No I have his 4 speed and new diff in the workshop being rebuilt and ready to replace. They are sat next to your axle keeping it company.

Cheers matt

Hopefully Max and I with help from Matt can make it towards the pointy end of the grid next year.

Max is a cracking chap, cool as a cucumber when we threw him at the Birkett with less than 24 hours notice. Really looking forward to racing with him next year.

Hi

Don't worry Steve i will be doing all the hard work off driving and testing the new dampers and setup at Donington in a few weeks in the cold British weather. You just chill out in the warm sun on holiday.

Cheers Matt
