Easter Sunday - Jasper's place
Jasper - 10/4/03 at 03:29 PM

Right - the family are gonna be in Spain over Easter so I'm having a building party. Your all welcome to come down, have a prod at my build, tell me my weldings crap, help me with the electrics, and if it ain't snowing we'll have a bbq (no, we can't take it to Le Mans, it's gas powered, oh yeah, Jon's coming, maybe we can!)

Let me know if you interested and I'll email you directions.

BTW, I live about 8 miles north of Brighton.

theconrodkid - 10/4/03 at 05:36 PM

chrisg - 10/4/03 at 06:46 PM

Move to Yorkshire and I'll come!

BTW I can slag your welding off by e-mail if you like.

Cheers

If it's as 'good' as your drawing I'm in trouble....

chrisg - 10/4/03 at 08:36 PM

Do you mind!

I had done by one of those places that take a photo(andŁ60) and do a watercolour.

That is EXACTLY how my car looks, although I have got the wing mirrors on now.

Cheers

Chris

Jasper - 20/4/03 at 07:23 PM

Big thanks to all who came down to mine today. Unfortunately I've got an knackered ECU, so it wouldn't start. Feel like the kid on Christmas day with no batteries for his new toy.....

At least I know know the wiring all seems to be fine....

theconrodkid - 20/4/03 at 08:30 PM

had a think bout it on the way back and i think you should by pass the resistor, gota be worth a try and cant do any harm, thanks for the barbie by the way.

locodude - 21/4/03 at 05:41 PM

Jasper
Don't get too disheartened, mine won't start either. All seems ok but no spark. Unfortunately I've been doing it myself as my 'trician is enjoying his bank hol. Everything else is fine, even wired up the clocks ok. BTW is there a particular way round for the resistor to fit? I put it as mentioned between the thick white +12v wire and the grey one which leads to the ECU, is this correct? I'm assuming that the white one is the main feed wire i.e. constant +12v, it is on mine anyhow, trouble is Steve the trician has removed a lot of what he called 'redundant' wiring. it could just be the sidestand and clutch wires needing frigging? oh well!

chrisg - 21/4/03 at 06:11 PM

I think your soy sauce dispenser is f*cked!

Ahso

Chris

Jasper - 21/4/03 at 07:19 PM

Put my resistor in line in the grey wire, was getting around 3v back to the ECU which seems right. (John, I did try witout, no luck). You will need to sort the clutch and sidestand switch's, I think sidestand is left open, clutch is joined. Someone did mention maybe the resistor has to go a certain way, but we did get the low voltage out so it seems to be right.

I'll call the Mach1 boys in the morning ....

Cheers

Wadders - 21/4/03 at 10:17 PM

A Resistor works the same either way round, what resistance are you boys using? ST told me 100ohm's but i aint tried it yet.

100ohms is the one. Turns out the ECU wasn't original with the engine, so could well be the wrong one.

theconrodkid - 22/4/03 at 04:26 PM

hope so ,dont like being beaten by machines

Jasper - 22/4/03 at 09:30 PM

I will know in the morning as I've sent it back to Mach1 for them to try in another running ZX9. My ECU was for a ZX9 - right serial number.

May be something as stupid as not having the car in 'proper' not false Neutral.

I'll keep you informed.

BTW, after a visit by Hicost I'm gonna be strengthening up the panhard rod and trailing arms tomorrow and changing the route of the fuel pipe through the rear bulkhead, he spotted a few 'safety issues'!
